It was the ship that many claimed could never sink. But it did. You all know the story. One of the most legendary stories in history happened in 1912 when a passenger ship sent out from England to New York City. 2200 people were on board and there were many aspects to the boat, from […]

STAR TREK: THE PICARD LEGACY – Now That’s A Gift!
As a life-long fan of STAR TREK, one of the many powerful aspects of the series is how it has grown and evolved over the years and remained such a solid form of entertainment dating all the way back to the 1960s with the Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) era and especially the movie […]

Between CANDY CANE LANE and DOLEMITE IS MY NAME, My Money is on the Latter.
Eddie Murphy’s family friendly films should be a sub-genre in itself. Not only are they thematically similar, but also sometimes offer some payoff that viewers can part with. However, his best movies are those when he’s allowed to be raunchy and off the wall, like DOLEMITE IS MY NAME (2019). But when he has to […]

THE HOLDOVERS Review – The Holiday Movie You Didn’t Know You Needed
Upon first glance, this period piece, directed by Alexander Payne and set in a New England prep school over the 1970/71 Christmas break gives off a whiff of the boarding school classic DEAD POETS SOCIETY (1989). Yet it quickly morphs into a very different film which goes in totally unexpected directions. The boarding school here […]

Fantastic Fest Reaction – COBWEB
Kim Jee-woon is the mastermind behind this dark, dark comedy about the making of a film in 1970s South Korea. “Described as an experimental and genre-defying drama shot entirely on sound stages in support of a film-within-a-film narrative,” on IMDB, that only begins to explain the contours of this fabulous period piece. Here, Director Kim […]

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS on 4k Blu Ray Review – ‘Til All Are One
While I tire of a lot of the mass produced studio product this year, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS is a rare exception. A pure, fun summer popcorn movie that wears its heart on its sleeve, it was a fun action movie that did decently on its theatrical release but I really wish did better. […]
